Substitute Teachers

Substitute employment is on an on-call, as-needed basis. It is a part-time position without benefits. Substitute teachers are only required for assignments while school is in session.

CCPS has chosen SubFinder to manage the assignments for our substitute teachers. This is an automated system that is simple to operate by using the phone and the web.

To apply for substitute teaching you must complete an online substitute teacher application.   Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, the minimum requirement to apply for substitute teaching will be to hold at least a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college.  We review substitute applications periodically throughout the school year as the need arises to hire additional substitutes.  If we select you as a candidate to hire, the Human Resources Department will contact you.  We will ONLY contact those selected to be hired. 

REMEMBER:  We have an abundance of applicants.  Many have the same qualifications.  It is impossible to hire every applicant to become a substitute.  Applications are reviewed throughout the school year.  Orientations are held several times during the school year.

If you are contacted to be hired, you will be required to supply a copy of your diploma or transcript with a degree statement to verify your highest level of education.  If you are a certified teacher, a copy of your teaching certificate will be sufficient.
